Soldering Contest at Oskar Blues

The fine folks over at Sparkfun sponsored their first annual Soldering Competition, hosted at Oskar Blues today in Longmont.  You may remember reading about the Sparkfun autonomous vehicle competitions in 2010 and 2011 here, and another one is coming up in June!).

I give Sparkfun a lot of credit for stimulating kids' interest in electronics, and providing challenging events to keep them learning.  Grownups (men and women) were also wide-eyed entrants in today's contest, and they had a special round for younger kids, some of which had never soldered before.

Contest took place on the back patio

Equipment lined up, ready to go before the first wave

And they are off!

The product of the first wave:  A Simon game.
