Holiday Season Kickoff in Downtown Longmont 2009

Will this be a new Longmont tradition? Hundreds turned out downtown, with Main Street closed to traffic, in 17 degree (F) weather for the Reindeer Dash and Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

Good to see Old Man Winter participating in the Dash:

Reindeer!

Wagon rides were offered all evening:

It's been a while since I've been downtown. The new bookstore mentioned a few months ago is open, and getting traffic tonight.

Carolers outside of the St. Stephens Church:

Doesn't it get cold, just wearing a kilt and socks? These guys are hardy.

Brrr. I'm going to have to get used to the idea of being outside when it's 17 degrees again. Looks like it was fun though.
