The cherry tree grove in Kanemoto Park, first seen back in May of 2009, and a new torii gate was dedicated today to Jimmy Kanemoto. Kanemoto, who passed away in December of 2006, was an important member and significant contributor to the Longmont community. On a very warm Saturday afternoon, a good crowd attended, including Mayor Baum and three other council members.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Kanemoto about seven years ago, and was impressed with his warmth, humility, and sense of pride. It was great to see this tribute and dedication happen today.
