Memorial Day in the USA somehow got hijacked by a now-traditional barbecue and picnic weekend theme, those declaring it as the first day of summer, furniture and hardware store sales, end of school celebrations, and perhaps those wanting it to be a drinking holiday.

Thankfully, the true version of this holiday can be always found at your neighborhood Memorial Day service. On an unseasonably cool but pleasant May 26 morning, here's a view from the Longmont's well-attended 11 AM service at Mountain View Cemetery.
