Mt. Hood, Oregon. You probably can't see it in this picture but people are skiing here in late August. A week later, this view would have been obscured by smoke from forest fires in Central Oregon.

Olympia, WA was sunny and bright which was unusual for me because I've only ever been there in the rain. You can see the Washington State Capitol in the background.

Roslyn, WA has a rich heritage in coal mining and it is also known as the filming site of the 1990's TV show, Northern Exposure. If you've seen the show, you may recognize some of these scenes which the town still tries to preserve (like the radio station).

Made it to Canada on this trip, too.

It was a treat to see a (I think) Willow Ptarmigan up in Mt. Seymour Provincial Park, north of Vancouver, since they are a far-northern bird.
I've never had a clearer view of Mt. Ranier than this. One November when I was working temporarily in Seattle for three weeks, I never saw Mt. Ranier at all. The locals assured me it was out there, hidden by the clouds and rain.
