Still a couple of classmates live there. Both farmers. I worked in beets with several jobs. Thining, topping with a special knife, made for that. Later sacked sugar, loaded sugar, worked in summers with mechanics, electricians, welders. One summer hauled them to the factory for processing, until I had an accident.<br />Dr. Hal Kimeherco2https://www.blogger.com/profile/16429976439009651762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622269861971993419.post-84569351019036939462019-04-10T18:21:58.851-07:002019-04-10T18:21:58.851-07:00Back in the early 80's and well into the 21st ...Back in the early 80's and well into the 21st century I hunted the abundant pheasants on the factory and other land around Ovid. I had made friends with the Ewan family who had long since relocated to the northern Front Range, but maintained friendship and hunting privileges with Ovid landowners. I recall exploring the long abandoned, but still standing (at that time) company hospital across 138 from the factory. The 8 or 10 beds were still in it. Spooky! The factory was still operating as a depot and had a yellow diesel descendant of a Blinky you had to watch out for.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11636072749975423222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622269861971993419.post-50941763090242547072017-05-29T16:00:25.823-07:002017-05-29T16:00:25.823-07:00Thought it was Guering(sp).
